Severe Facts & Bootlegs
Severe Warning Demo Tape (Cassette)“Death to False Metal”, 1987 4-Song demo.
Very Rare item; hard to find an original one in any condition. Band self-produced in limited quantities in 1987. Distribution was limited to primarily Cleveland, Ohio area. A small number were sent out by the band for promotional use or to be reviewed in metal magazines. After “Death to False Metal” SW released one full length 8-song demo cassette called “A Good Day…But for Who?” in 1989. This release is also difficult to find in original form. Selections from both demos appear on about 5 or 6 various compilation albums released during that period.
Live Severe Warning
A few decent bootlegs of SW live shows exist. Sound quality is not the greatest, but the energy of the live experience comes through. SW was a band whose live shows usually relied more on attitude than flawless execution! Singer/guitarist Bryan Renken has been known to actually throw his Gibson Explorer across the stage when having tuning problems with his tremolo system! Sometimes he would jump up on the bass players’ back while doing extended solos! If you ever have a chance to buy a SW Video of one of their live shows don’t miss the opportunity; it is the definitive snapshot of the Cleveland Metal Scene of the late 80’s.

Band Members : Rocky DiCarlo (Bass) - Dave Fox (Drums) - Ace The Raven (Guitar & Vocals)
1990 : Demo Untitled
1991 : Waiting for Darkness
1992 : Journey into Terror
Nitefall Facts
By late 1989 problems within Severe Warning started to divide the band. Slight differences in musical direction along with personality conflicts combined to end the 5 year lineup. Three SW members (Ace the Raven, now on guitar and vocals, Dave Fox on drums and bass player Rocky Dicarlo who had just replaced Darrin Winne) went on to form Nitefall in early 1990. There are three 4 song demos with limited local release. The first demo (March 1990) had no name or formal production and 2 of the 4 songs went straight to compilations. The others are: Waiting for Darkness (1991), and Journey into Terror (1992). The song “Desert of Ice” was chosen by Rodell Records for their sampler “Music Menagerie” (released c.1993.)
Cardavercus 1998 - 2000
Band Members : Mike Marzak (Bass) - Scott Bordman aka Steamhead (Drums) - Ace The Raven (Guitar) - Bryan Renken (Vocals)
Cardavercus Facts
Ace the Raven and Bryan Renken come full circle in 1999 with this virtually unreleased 4 song CD demo. Adding Mike Marczak on Bass and Scott Boardman on drums, this gives some idea of what might have been the natural progression of SW into the late ‘90s. Cardavercus lasted about 2 years from c.1998 to 2000. Many other songs were written, but never recorded. Chances are good if you like SW, you’ll like this.
